  • Juniors:

    • Remember, you will take the ACT next Tuesday, March 7.  You will need to bring your ACT approved ID, charged chromebook, a charger, and your ACT approved calculator.  Make sure you are on campus no later than 7:30 am, keep your cell phone in your vehicle and report directly to your testing location at the first bell.  Remember, hoodies are not allowed on campus on a regular day and cannot even be brought into the building on testing day. Dress appropriately in layers to prevent getting too hot or too cold.

    • Visit gorebs.org for additional information about the ACT. You will look under the Parent & Students Tab.  Click TESTING and then open the "ACT Documents" folder. There you will find information about the required ID for testing day as well as general instructions for the day itself.

  • The Apple test will be offered on Tuesday, March 21st. If you know another language, wish to test out of world language classes, and want to qualify for the Louisiana Seal of Biliteracy, this is the test for you. See Mrs. Ballance in room 2207 to sign up or to get more information. The cost of the test is $20.

  • Seniors: There are three new scholarships available in the Guidance Department for graduating seniors:

    • The Taylor Fisher Memorial Scholarship

    • The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. ETA Delta Lambda Chapter of Monroe, LA Scholarship

    • West Monroe High School Survivors Scholarship

    • Pick up your copy in Guidance or on gorebs.org under Scholarships.

  • Juniors and Seniors: We will be hosting prom on Thursday April 6th from 8pm-11pm at "The Hanger” on ULM's campus.    Tickets will be sold in wing 3 downstairs during both lunch shifts March 13-March 24th.  Tickets are $40 per person and you can pay with cash or money order only. You must have the relevant prom ticket purchase form completed to purchase your ticket.  Tickets are limited so get yours early.  All prom information including the necessary forms can be found on Gorebs.org under the parents and students tab. Forms may also be picked up in Mrs. Jones or Mrs. Nix’s classrooms or in the library.

  • Any student who is wanting to take a dual enrollment class next year and has AT LEAST a 2.5 may now pick up a packet. Please note that if the ACT requirement is not met, a teacher/counselor recommendation is required. These recommendations will be taken care of by the WMHS faculty. These courses are a great way to start earning college credit! However, if you struggle with a subject, you do not need to not take that same subject as dual enrollment. The good news is that there are a variety of class offerings, and the classes are for little to no cost to the student. Additionally, students who do take DE classes do not have to pass an end of the year test to earn college credit. These college credits are transferable to all in state public universities, a number of out of state public universities, and some private universities. The following teachers have packets available in their room: Mrs. Anders, Mr. Aswell, Mrs. Eason, Mrs. Etzel, Mrs. Garvin, Mrs. Gulde, Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Knox, Mrs. Rawls, and Mrs. Ashley Walker. The deadline for the packet is Wednesday, April 5. Please see Mrs. Hunt or email her about any questions concerning dual enrollment.
